What an order for this scenario runs on

Commonly specified glass thicknesses

  • 10 mm
  • 12 mm

3 product lines specified into this scenario

The scenario

A frameless partition panel held by clamps, or a sliding partition carried on a top-hung or bottom-rolled track.

What buyers run into

The panel is heavy, and the fixing has to carry it without cracking the glass or letting the panel drift out of line.

How to specify this scenario

Decide first whether the panel is fixed or sliding, then the glass thickness, the clamp mounting (wall or post) and the track type for a sliding panel.

Typical configuration

The parts this scenario is usually built from

Glass clamps
Wall mount or post mount, single or double sided.
Sliding door rollers
Top-hung or bottom guide, for sliding partitions.
Tube connectors
For rail and balustrade systems.

Load and safety

12 mm is used for larger, heavier panels and doors in constant daily use. The fitting is machined for one glass thickness and cannot be adapted afterwards.

Installation notes

Clamps and fittings are machined for one glass thickness. Work from the drawing supplied with the model you ordered rather than from the fitting that came off.

Common mistakes

Setting clamps by eye instead of to the fixing distance.

The panel can drift out of line or the clamp can be over-tightened against the glass.

How to avoid: Work from the fixing distance on the drawing for the model you ordered.

Fixing hardware ordered for a different glass thickness.

The fitting is machined for one thickness and cannot be adapted.

How to avoid: Check the parts against the glass before drilling.
